Earlier in August we hosted the Christophorus Conference, welcoming brothers and sisters from across Europe from Germany, Lithuania and Poland and from a variety of Christian traditions, including Lutheran and Roman Catholic. The conference centred around the theme of ‘hope’ – what was it we were hoping for for the future of the religious life in Europe, and how does liturgy and prayer bring us into contact with that hope? Perhaps the greatest sign of this hope was the deepening of friendships we had together. The Group shared a day trip to Durham with a visit to the Cathedral and to St Anthony’s Priory and also a wonderful celebratory meal hosted by the Brethren.
